Will Merck Blame Dorothy?

A patient once ask me, "Why do you care so much about pharmaceutical drugs? They have nothing to do with chiropractic." It even sounded worse, as his voice sounded less curious, and more condescending. I was a little stunned, because I believe I care primarily as a human, and next comes as a chiropractor. The question I should have asked back is, "Why does Dorothy Hamill care so much about us taking drugs?".

There are two things I love about this article from the Grand Rapid News, about chiropractor, Dr. Jason Ross, D.C.

The first thing is the fact that helped the men's four man bobsled to a gold medal, and the two woman bobsled team to a bronze at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

As much as I hate to admit it, the vast majority of people believe chiropractic is a physical treatment for a physical problem.

The textbook example is a person gets a "kink" in their neck from a car accident, or a fall, or sleeping wrong etc..etc. The response is a chiropractic adjustment to correct the physical subluxation and the body takes care of the rest.

Since we are all in the Olympic chiropractic spirit, I thought I would post my second Olympic post about a chiropractor on the same day. It represents the number of wins Team Canada needs to take the gold in men's hockey. Dr. Scott Swanson let us know on his blog that Dr. Bill Moreau, was in fact, in charge of J.R. Celski's rehabilitation following a serious cut to his leg during a 500m race in September of 2009.

Why isn't this the news story being exposed in a greater fashion? Without getting into the ins and outs of type 2 diabetes being reversible through diet, exercise, and lifestyle, the punishment for the folks at GlaxoSmithKline should be swift and severe. You shouldn't have to be a chiropractor to find this completely outrageous.
