After I read some of the agreed upon numbers in the proposed health care legislation, I had to go on a fact finding mission. For as many informed people I know: Friends, family, chiropractic colleagues, facebook friends, that I could come up with some numbers to make sense of this.
Here is what sticks out to me:
$940,000,000,000 spent over 10 years, starting in 2014
$94,000,000,000 per year
$2935.00/yr for each uninsured to give them health coverage
32,000,000,000 *Uninsured* will be covered
15,000,000,000 people are voluntarily uninsured
14,000,000,000 people qualify for Medicaid but have not signed up(rules allow for sign up when it is needed, and is not a requirement to sign up prior to need.)
The remainder fall into a category of being temporarily uninsured while they are finding or changing jobs. This averages out to 4 months of being uninsured per person.
$80,000,000,000 deal agreed upon between Big Pharma and Government in June, 2009 to give give seniors more for their money
Currently, it is a fact that if anyone walks into an Emergency Room in the U.S. they will be seen with or without insurance(depending on severity of course.) The U.S. tax payer have already been paying for this type of emergency care coverage for years, so are we just making it official or are we being taken to the bank?
I guess we will see.
What seems to be getting lost in the shuffle is talk about prevention, nutrition, exercise, and accountability for the choices a person is free to make in their own lifestyle.
I would prefer that to talk about the endless amount of drugs we wouldn’t need if we had optimally functioning nervous systems, proper nutrition, and exercise.
