In a follow up to my original article on chiropractic helping children eliminate chronic ear infections with the help of a chiropractic adjustment, is a nice news story done last year about that very subject.
Ear infections do not need to be a normal part of childhood, and chiropractors should not be the last resort. They should be the first resort, and every parent should know about an adjustment as a solution.
Since my son and I frequent the Queen Anne Community Center and visit with other parents at his preschool, I hear about ear infections a few times per week. I do admit that I only reluctantly mention that I am a local chiropractor, and that their child could be helped by getting an adjustment.
My guess my fear of rejection sets in, or the potential of having to defend myself due to some of the unwarranted feelings people have about the chiropractic profession. While I have a very solid potential solution for their child’s misery that hesitation allows a child to continue to suffer.
While I’m standing there worried about my own feelings and place in society, a more vocal parent mentions that the child should really get on antibiotics right away, or maybe they should consider the “tubes” surgery. I don’t plan on letting that happen again.
We have had a 95% resolution rate for ear infections in children who have specifically visited our office with a diagnosis of persistent otitis media. Parents need to know about this.
